Happy Yule!

Alternate title: The Bastardization of Winter Solstice Celebrations

Yes, I am fully aware that the Winter Solstice is actually tomorrow night and not tonight.  However, if I'm making up a holiday to celebrate, then I can make up when it's celebrated too.

No, I did not take a photo of the effed-up Yule Log.  Think falling-apart cake with too much filling and frosting that destroys rather than creates.  But damn, was it good to eat.

For the full run-down of the day, go see my Twitter feed.  Why, yes, I do believe that I am rather witty. Don't you?

So the entire celebration centers around cake? I could get behind that.

Yea, well, not really. That's just the way we (I) decided to do it this year. It's supposed to be about celebrating the longest night of the year. So, yule wreaths (that's where "deck the halls" comes from), lighting candles, talking about your connection to the earth and warmth and night and light.

And Cakes and Ale is/can be a part of that. It's the part I chose to focus on for our "celebration". It seemed to work well for us. We'll be doing it again next year for sure.
