Thumbs Up

15 month doctor visit this morning.  Given how traumatic our last visit was for me, I admit I was a little nervous this morning!  But I was prepared to tell him how much milk from a cup she is drinking (she can handle a straw like a big kid!), how she's doing so well with food and words, and now she's walking everywhere and climbing on everything (including mommie!).

He was pleased that she was doing so well.  He's letting me spread out the last few vaccines we need to get. (yay!)  He recommended Hep A vaccine because in the next year or two, our State will be requiring it before preschool (but she might go to preschool across the river, so I'll have to find out about that.)  He didn't seem concerned about the strawberry allergy, and he traded blowing kisses with her at the end.

She's still little.  We can't quite break that 20-pound barrier yet, so she's in the 10th percentile for her weight (I guess that's better than being overweight like her momma).  But overall it was a good checkup.

Relieved :) !!!!!

Yay! I'm dreading Gunne's 12 month (yes, we are a month over due) since when I brought him in the last time I got the 3rd degree. I'm glad to hear yours went so well!

My mom commented that he seemed like a totally different doctor this time. I didn't mention 'nursing' to him at all, so we didn't have to talk about that. I understand the dread. Good luck!

One advantage of being little is portability. My boys were well over 25 lbs at the one year mark. Wearing them was not an option for me. I say, enjoy your wee one's wee-ness!

It amazes me that, with so many awful moms in the world, good ones are getting the third degree and are afraid of their pediatric visits. Seriously. The doctors should save the over-the-glasses-sneering for the moms who are giving their babies Red Bull.

He let it slip during the visit that both of his children had been speech delayed. So I think he just has a hair trigger about speech, and when she didn't have many words at 12 months, he jumped on that.

It all frightened me so much that I worked with her more on her eating and her words, so it all worked out in the end.

A little less anxiety provoking might have been a little better, tho!
